Working Adults
Purpose These services ensure that persons who are blind, visually impaired or DeafBlind (including those who have additional physical and/or mental impairments) have the rehabilitation services they need to prepare for, seek, retain and regain employment. Customers Customers are blind or visually impaired individuals in Minnesota who are seeking employment or who want to maintain employment. Customer Satisfaction Survey Results 2007 Adjustment to Blindness Customer Satisfaction Survery Results Services and Providers Services may include: vocational and disability related counseling; acquisition of alternative techniques used by blind, visually impaired or DeafBlind people to be able to independently travel, read, accomplish daily living skills and employment tasks; use of assistive technology; job placement; and job analysis. All services are written into a plan and must be tied to a vocational goal that is based on customer choice and reflects the person’s strengths, interests, and abilities. Services are provided through 21 rehabilitation counselors in nine field offices, three placement specialists, four technology specialists, private contract vendors and Community Rehabilitation Programs.
